Gary Ridgway's serial killing career began in 1982, after a number of disappearances in the King County, Washington, area. All the disappearances involved prostitutes and other vulnerable women, and when the first bodies started appearing in the Green River, the press soon started referring to the culprit as the 'Green River Killer'. Ridgway was able to escape detection for almost two decades, before a DNA match in 2001 led to his identification. He eventually confessed to murdering between 75 and 80 women, and was given multiple life sentences for the killings.

The True Crime Shorts series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of some of the most gruesome crimes in modern times. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a serial killer, along with analysis that tries to comprehend their motives; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the case in the shortest time possible.

Gary Ridgway the Green River Killer True Crime Shorts Book 7 eBook David White

Much has been written about the Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway, identified as the worst serial killer in US history. Investigative author David White presents a well written brief shocking expose that carefully details Ridgeway's evil pathology which led to the deaths of at least 48 young disadvantaged women. Many victims were associated with the criminal activity surrounding the Seattle Hwy 99 SeaTac area strip where they were seen getting into a pick-up truck. Many bodies were later found in the Green River, in closed boarded up housing near the Sea Tac Airport, or located in heavily wooded areas miles from where they were last seen. Ridgeway was arrested November 30th, 2001, but his killing spree was estimated beginning in 1982 to 1998, the exact number of his victims remains unknown.

Ridgeway was a polite respectful man who worked at Kenworth Trucking Company in Renton. Although he had been married three times, his current and former wives had no indication of the true nature of his vile criminal character. Ridgway may have developed a well concealed preference for prostitutes when he was in the Navy stationed in the Philippines, which went against his well crafted reputation he presented to the world around him. Almost caught once, he only became more cautious and careful. With his DNA left behind at crime scenes, advances in scientific DNA testing led to his capture, prosecution and conviction in the Green River murders.
The Green River Task Force was headed by sheriff Dave Reichert, tracked Ridgeway for decades. "Green River, Running Red: The Real Story of the Green River Killer" (2005) is another excellent book by the late Seattle true-crime writer Ann Rule. David White has authored several brief informational volumes the true crime subject and genre. ~ Many thanks and much appreciation to the author for the e-ARC for the purpose of review. .

Gary Ridgway the Green River Killer True Crime Shorts Book 7 eBook David White Reviews

I read this after reading another book about the Green River Killer. It was factual mostly.
I'm still astonished that it took so long to catch the killer.
Nice and very interesting, this man is a monster...he deserves the death penalty..poor families can't imagine their suffering and grieve
This was free, and because of that I don't want to complain much about the writing style or the errors. But the actual information is what the book claims it contains a very basic rundown of Ridgway and the investigation of his crimes.

There are better books about this out there. I'd recommend looking to those if you want to be entertained. This was like a long, high schooler's report on a serial killer.
Very monotonous
